On Blasts, and shattered hopes

The news channels all proclaim the same breaking news and all the spotlight is on them. The endless practice of making artificial news sensational would now bear its fruit, with over a million viewers glued to every word they say, and every picture they show. The numbers are usually insignificant, the number of people who die in vehicular accidents in a city would be ten times the number, but the effect it has on a population can be tremendous. Fear drives irrationality, in both common citizens and policy makers. Knowing that the intelligence in your country is not able to cope with the threats of these terrorists, knowing that as common citizens, there is nothing you can do to prevent yourself from being hurt can lead to unity driven by hatred of another. If you can wake up tomorrow, knowing that the world has not been changed by today, life will go on, as it always does.
